HistoryFrom an early age Max Royce had tremendous creative spirit and a passion for wood. He is the second son of Lindsay and Val Royce and was brought up on their Greenough property where he enjoyed all the pleasures of farm life. He spent many hours in his shed designing and constructing sand boards, lackey guns, hill trolleys and furniture pieces. Max drew inspiration from his Father and Grandfather's abilities to create practical farm equipment and artistically pleasing furniture using only the raw materials at hand. Corringle farm is a virtual gallery of these creations After a four year apprenticeship at Geraldton Building Company in Carpentry and Joinery, he travelled around Australia developing his skills and picking up ideas. Max then spent time in Perth working for his cousin Gary Bennett of JAH ROC, a quality furniture company of some renown. After 9 months Max had enough of the city and returned to Greenough. Max built his own workshop and showroom. The style of the magnificent building is reflected in the solid quality of Max's furniture. Over the years there have been many successful exhibitions and displays in his showroom. |
